Mat / Crate training

At Paws-Ability we LOVE teaching mat training, it's a foundation skill that we believe every pooch should be taught.

Imagine a pooch who chooses to put him/herself on their mat / in their crate / den, a pooch who runs there when the door bell rings instead of pushing at you at the front door, or a pooch who's happy on a mat in the hall way while you're cooking dinner.

Sound amazing - well it is, and with our Paws-Ability training program your pooch will learn to be a super-star at liking and going to his/her mat.

Times when your dog could be at their bed / mat / crate

  • Quiet time - whenever the dog chooses

  • Settle time - perfect re-direction when pooch is a little over excited or anxious.

  • Chew time - our Paws-Ability pooch Tucker loves taking a carrot to her mat to eat!

  • When you're cooking / preparing dinner - so pooch isn't under your feet

  • Human dinner time

  • Visitors arriving / leaving

  • Front door bell rings - avoid the rush to the door

  • At cafe's - take a small mat for your dog to lie on while you enjoy your cuppa!

  • At the vet

  • In the car

  • At the beach

  • At a park

Our Private Training lessons are 60 minutes in length, and are booked individually or in blocks of 3, 5 or 10.  We recommend sessions to be no further than 2 weeks apart so your dog can build his/her confidence and progress at his/her pace.
